HMV says X&Y could be as big as Oasis's Be Here Now
Coldplay's latest album, X&Y, is predicted to be a massive hit. HMV said it could sell more than 100,000 copies today alone and more than 400,000 this week.

HMV stores opened their doors this morning to find fans queueing as the album went on sale.

HMV head of press and PR Gennaro Castaldo said: 'We haven't seen anything like this since Oasis released Be Here Now in August 1997.'

According to HMV, some industry commentators are expecting the album to reach half a million sales on Saturday, making it as fast-selling as Be Here Now. The record-breaking Oasis album sold just under 696,000 copies in its first week in August 1997.
