Co-op reveals convenience test for Alldays shops

Co-op Group will test a convenience offer at 10 of the 637 Alldays shops it bought last October. The first trial will be at North Baddesley, Hampshire.

Co-op will spend£1.6 million relaunching the stores under the Welcome fascia.

The 12-week pilot will improve the range and merchandising, drawing on Co-op's strength in convenience grocery and Alldays' in CTN.

Success could lead to a multi-million pound refit programme for the former Alldays outlets over three years.

Co-op chief general manager of marketing John Bowes said there are 'no immediate plans' to pass on any of the stores to others.
