Chris Ronnie has left JJB Sports after reaching a “financial settlement” with the sportswear chain.

Ronnie was suspended as chief executive of JJB after it was found that his 27.5 per cent joint shareholdings in the business had been transferred in October.

Ronnie maintains that he was unaware of the transfer but was suspended pending an enquiry last month.

His lawyers Pannone LLP have today issued a statement, which said that Ronnie had “tendered his resignation after a financial settlement was reached at a meeting on Tuesday 24 February 2009.”

“Mr Ronnie has always maintained that he has not knowingly breached any disclosure obligations in relation to his shareholding in the company.”
