Traditional formalwear retailer Chester Barrie is set to relaunch on the UK high street.

Manufacturer and wholesaler Prominent, which owns Chester Barrie, is expected to open retail stores globally and on the UK high street.

It is examining retail sites in London and will look at locations outside the capital for the first time, including locations in the North of England and Scotland.

Chester Barrie international brand director Will Palmer confirmed the retailer would look at international opportunities in the US, Japan and continental Europe, for a launch next year.

“We think the brand has got great potential – English tailoring with a good English cut is still in strong demand,” said Palmer.

Prominent, the European arm of Itochu, bought Chester Barrie from Speciality Retail Group last year.
