Carphone Warehouse has collaborated with supermodel Kate Moss to develop a range of fashion accessories for smartphones and tablets.

The Kate Moss Accessories Collection, which has been developed by Moss and the design team at Carphone Warehouse, is due to launch this summer.

Julian Diment, marketing director at Carphone Warehouse, said the mobile retailer decided to team up with Moss after it found that consumers were “crying out for something different” when it came to accessorising their mobiles and tablets.

He added: “Consumers see their technology as another way of expressing themselves and a natural extension of their own personal style. Fashion tech blurs the lines between fashion and technology, and Kate Moss is the perfect match for us to drive forward integration and creativity from the two industries.”

The collection will be sold on Carphone Warehouse’s website and across its stores nationwide.

Figures from Carphone Warehouse found that women are now adopting smartphones at a faster rate than men. In the last 12 months, female smartphone ownership rose by 52% in the UK, compared to a 37% increase among men. Nearly two thirds of women (64%) own a smartphone, compared to 70% of men.

Moss said: “My phone’s as much a part of my look as my bag or shoes, and yet there’s so little choice out there. My whole approach was to treat this as any other fashion collaboration; I was heavily involved in the design process and loved seeing my vision come to life in the final product. From the quality of materials to design, I wanted the best for my range that reflected my personal style.”
