Carphone Warehouse is rolling out a system to deal with non-stock purchase order management across Europe.
The system, from Celaton, has been designed to improve cost control at the company’s operations in Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, Ireland,
Belgium and the Netherlands.
At present, the retailer uses a system from Oracle to manage this function within its UK operation, but it wanted something simpler and quicker to implement for the rest
of Europe.
Carphone Warehouse shared services director Bruce Marson said that by controlling expenditure he hoped to reduce it and prevent European staff from using suppliers that the company does not have a relationship with.
Ireland was the first of the retailer’s operations to go live with the system in a pilot project and the other countries will follow by the end of the year.
After this, plans will be put in place to integrate the process with the retailer’s invoicing system to automatically match invoices received to purchase orders created within the
Celaton system.
