Capo is aiming for 30 outlets in three-year push

Fashion retailer Capo is on the hunt for acquisitions as it strives to grow its portfolio to 30 stores.

Founder and managing director Mike Abrams, who bought the business back from Virgin last year, said the consolidating independent market made a deal likely. 'There's a strong possibility of acquisitions in the future,' he said.

Abrams sees potential for 30 shops within three years, and intends to boost the chain's womenswear offer, which accounts for 30 per cent of sales. A 5,000 sq ft (465 sq m) flagship store, with a new design, will open in Bradford in October.

The 18-strong chain has returned to the black a year after the MBO. Capo posted pre-tax profits of£600,000 on turnover of£9 million in the year to January 31, against losses of£2.2 million a year earlier.
