Fashion retailer closes 12 stores
Multi-brand fashion retailer Capo Man & Woman has closed 12 of its high street and shopping centre outlets.

Simon and Daniel Plant, joint administrators of Capo's holding company Civic Enterprises, said that the remaining five stores -Liverpool, Blackpool, St Helen's, Wigan and Merryhill in Dudley - are continuing to trade while they seek new owners.

The closed stores are: Gateshead's MetroCentre, two outlets in Birmingham, Norwich, Bristol, Southampton, Huddersfield, Bradford, Doncaster, Scarborough, Leicester and Coventry. Redundancies are being made for 130 full and part-time staff.

'We have been obliged to close the outlets that are not profitable and transfer stock to the remaining ones, which continue to operate as normal. At the same time, we are actively marketing the business in the hope of finding a purchaser,' said Simon Plant.

The company's financiers called in the administrators after the Birmingham-based retailer ran up losses of several million pounds.
