C&J Home Stores parent seeks to sell off business

JCW, which trades from seven shops as C&J Home Stores, has gone into administration. Based in Darton, Barnsley, C&J had a turnover last year in excess of£5 million and employs more than 100 staff in secondary retailing sites.

Neil Brackenbury and Peter Holder, partners in Kroll's Corporate Advisory & Restructuring Group, were appointed joint administrators to JCW on July 7. They hope to sell the households goods, toys and furnishings retailer as a going concern.

Brackenbury said the retailer's problems stemmed from the introduction of 'a new management system that provided incorrect forecasting, which once uncovered, created financial difficulties'.
