Cabot Circus – the 1.5 million sq ft mixed-use retail and residential scheme in the heart of Bristol – opened yesterday.

Anchored by a 170,000 sq ft House of Fraser and a 37,000 sq ft Harvey Nichols, the 1 million sq ft of retail and leisure includes 140 shops, with 15 flagship stores.

Cabot Circus’s retail element is spread over four covered streets that lead to a central area dubbed “The Circus”. The opening is expected to propel Bristol into the top 10 UK shopping centres from its present mid-20s position.

Cabot Circus has been developed by the Bristol Alliance, a partnership between Land Securities and Hammerson, and covers 36 acres.
