Boots man gets foot in the door
Jeff Broome has been elected president of Usdaw for the next three years after beating three competitors to the post.

Broome, who works at Boots Logistics in Nottingham, polled 45 per cent of the votes. He has served on the union's executive council for 12 years.

General secretary John Hannett said: 'Together we can build on the union's recent successes on the industrial and political scene. I have known Jeff for many years and know I can count on his full support in helping the union achieve its objectives.'

Broome will take up his position in May this year and replaces the outgoing Marge Carey, president of nine years, who did not stand for re-election
