The British Retail Consortium (BRC) is launching a Chinese version of its Global Standard - Consumer Products in Asia the next two weeks.

The BRC, BSI Management Systems and Intertek UK will launch the BRC Global Standard - Consumer Products (Issue 2) officially at supplier briefings to be held in Guangzhou on April 17 and 18.

The Standard is supported by leading UK and international retailers, including Tesco, Metro, Asda, Sainsbury's, Ahold, Waitrose, Co-op and Migros, which are implementing it in their supply chain.

The Standard will allow suppliers to best utilise factory preparation time, staff hours and audit costs for their customers, therefore reducing the total cost of doing business with EU retailers. The report is also designed to satisfy the legal requirement to demonstrate compliance with the EU General Product Safety Directive 2005.
