Number one Belgian footwear retailer marches on with store expansion strategy
Belgian footwear retailer Brantano has reported pre-tax profits of£8.1 million for last year, significantly down on the previous year's figure of£8.8 million. Like-for-like sales grew by 7.7 per cent.

The retailer opened 10 stores ilast year and achieved total sales growth of 11.6 per cent to£111.9 million, compared with 20.6 per cent growth in 2003.

Brantano stocks footwear brands such as Nike and Ecco alongside its own ranges, and its main customer group is families with children. The retailer has 139 out-of-town stores in the UK.

The Brantano board said it will continue a strategy of store expansion and is undergoing a shop refurbishment programme.
