Bookseller Borders UK has appointed Neil Fitton as head of marketing and promoted James Sneddon to head of store operations, with immediate effect.

New chief executive Philip Downer said: “There will be few managers in the business unfamiliar with James. His experience, enthusiasm, eye for detail and passion for driving sales and profitability are second to none. Neil’s retail experience with brands such as Woolworths and Asda will ensure that he brings strong leadership, energy and focus to the marketing team.”

Fitton joins Borders from DisplayPlan, a retail design and consultancy company, where he was strategic development director. Previously, he worked as in-store marketing manager for Woolworths and brand manager at Asda. Sneddon has been Borders regional manager for the past six years.
