Boots is set to close one of its five Oxford Street stores to relocate to a new site triple the size.

The health and beauty retailer is closing its 490 Oxford Street store near Marble Arch tube station to move a few doors down to 508-520 Oxford Street.

The move will give Boots three-times more retail trading space, taking it from the current 2,411 sq ft store to the new store which is 6,888 sq ft over two floors.

Staff from the 490 Oxford Street store, which closes on December 13, will transfer across to the new larger store which opens its doors on December 14.

A Boots spokeswoman said: “We’ve been looking for the right opportunity for a larger location. We wanted to move to a bigger store to give customers a bigger range of health and beauty.

“We feel Oxford Street is the premium shopping street in Europe. We have five stores on the street and we know that consumers shop in specific sections [of the street], so the new store won’t have an impact on the other stores.”

The store will house a pharmacy and feature beauty brands such as Benefit and Smashbox.

Boots has five health and beauty stores on Oxford street including its flagship at Sedley Place.
