Bonmarche sets Compass to plan merchandising

Womenswear value retailer Bonmarche has invested in a merchandising solution from Compass Software, part of Alphameric Retail. The system will support forecasting and demand planning for the retailer's fast-moving, high-volume product strategy on a season-by season basis.

Bonmarche business analyst Dean Fearnsides said: 'The aim of any retailer is to have the right products in the right store at the right time, and in the right quantities to support the sales that have been forecast.

The solution will enable us to monitor sales and evaluate them against forecast and history, to maintain optimum levels of stock.'

Bonmarche already uses Alphameric's merchandise management business intelligence and in-store EPoS applications. This means that data can be routed directly from the PoS to the Compass solution.

The news comes two weeks after DIY retailer Focus Wickes invested in a Compass category management solution, which will enable the retailer to more accurately respond to changes in customer demand by better understanding its product range.
