Home shopping retailer Boden has this month launched an iPad app to bring together the company’s traditional catalogue and website.
The app offers customers the same catalogue experience with a range of added features. The clothes are displayed through a number of magazine features, which mix on-location photos with straight products shots. Clicking on the product opens an in-app browser that links to the item on the Boden website. Items can be added to the basket and saved until checkout.
The real highlight of the app though is the ‘chitter chatter’ area, which aggregates content from Twitter and Boden’s own community forum. This content is laid out in a magazine style, similar to Flipboard, and is updated in real time, which allows the customer to interact with the Boden team and other customers.
The app also makes use of the iPad’s geo-location functionality by showing a local weather forecast and recommending products appropriate for the weather and local Boden shopping parties.
