Online flower retailer Interflora has implemented new technology to enable customers to design their own bouquets.
The tool gives shoppers the ability to drag and drop flowers into an arrangement. The technology then works out the relative position of the stem to ensure the flowers are shown at the right angle and perspective to give a realistic looking bouquet.
Users can choose from more than 70 flower and foliage varieties and customise their creation with vases and accessories. The tool tracks how much the user’s bouquet would cost to make as they go along. Once shoppers are happy with their design, they can save it to a gallery, share it on social media and place their order. A florist is then sent an image of the arrangement and creates an exact replica.
Tools such as this offer a wider choice of products, allow customers to be creative and give them confidence in what they are buying. It works using flash for desktop browsers or HTML5 for iPad.
