Developer Blenheim has submitted an application for the second phase of development of the Blenheim Centre in Hounslow, west London.

The second phase of the£200 million mixed-use development is expected to start on site in summer 2008, to open by Christmas 2010. The first phase opened in November 2006.

The scheme includes 170,000 sq ft (15,795 sq m) of retail space, including three major units, 23,000 sq ft (2,135 sq m) of restaurant space, a nine-screen cinema and 350 apartments. It is expected to increase annual non-food spend in Hounslow by approximately£100 million by 2011 and pull in a significant portion of the 216 high street retailers absent from the town.

Ray Daniel, managing director of Blenheim – a partnership between Blenheim Norwest and Apollo International Real Estate Fund – said: “With completion of the phase two development, the residents of Hounslow who have to travel out of town to shop and spend their leisure time will be able to enjoy local amenities and have access to local facilities”.

The design was conceived by architect Leslie Jones, following consultation with the council and local community. Plasma screens displaying flight information from Heathrow Airport will also be included to attract transit passengers.
