Big W decision is on the agenda at Woolworths

Woolworths will make a decision on the future of its Big W chain over the next couple of months.

Woolworths chief executive Trevor Bish-Jones said that strategic options are still being reviewed, but there will be an update at the preliminary results on March 24.

Bish-Jones was pleased with the 10 new-style Woolworths main chain stores that have been tested. A roll-out of the new look, plus a stronger product range, is scheduled for this year. However, it has not been decided how many shops will get the facelift.

Woolworths posted like-for-like growth of 0.8 per cent in the eight weeks to January 10.
