Base Menswear and Base Boys have been bought out of administration by their former owners.

Base directors Marc and Frank Granditer have bought back 13 of the retailer’s 20 shops.

Administrators Neil Bennett and Michael Healy of Leonard Curtis were appointed at the start of the month when the 100-year-old retailer fell victim to tough trading conditions.

Bennett said: “We are really pleased to have been able to conclude this sale so quickly – especially as it should ensure the smooth continuation of this long-established business and the saving of some 70 jobs.

“We were appointed just two weeks ago and have been running all 20 stores since then, during which time we received a number of serious enquiries from individuals interested in purchasing all or parts of the business.”
