Asda has said it has delivered another strong month of sales in November with core food categories all performing well.

Asda opened seven new stores in November, more than in any period in the last three years.

Asda parent Wal-Mart reported its international sales for November were $7.1 billion (£4.9 bn). Overall the Wal-Mart group reported sales of $32.2 billion (£22bn) for the month.

Wal-Mart vice chairman Mike Duke said: “Despite the economy, sales remained strong on a constant currency basis, confirming that our customers need every day low prices in these difficult times.”
