Store initiatives lead to growth
Supermarket giant Asda has improved its market share over the past three months, thanks to initiatives such as organic food ranges and the introduction of pet and baby departments, according to parent company Wal-Mart.

In a conference call following the group's results, Wal-Mart international finance chief Charles Holley said: 'Compared with the third quarter last year, an additional 1 million customers have started shopping at Asda, which is a reflection of the improvement in pricing, assortment and customer experience.

'The result has been increased market share in the past 12 weeks (and) there's more to come, we are encouraged about the fourth quarter.'
