Chris Brown promoted
Asda has appointed Chris Brown to the newly created post of head of ethical and sustainable sourcing.

He was previously the supermarket's agriculture and development manager, but has had his role extended as part of the grocer's drive to ensure it only sells products that sustain natural resources and protect the environment.

Brown said: 'I'm delighted to step into this new role. Over the last few years we've led the way in many areas from local sourcing to dedicated dairy farmers. But there's plenty more to do, such as switching all our fresh fish to Marine Steward Council approved in the next three to five years. I'm looking forward to meeting that challenge head on.'

Brown joined Asda five years ago from Marks & Spencer, where he was an agricultural technologist. In his new role he will report to executive food trading director Darren Blackhurst.
