Asda has hired Janet Bishopp as head of estates to develop and expand the grocer’s portfolio of 352 stores.
She will join in August from department store John Lewis, where she is senior property manager.
Bishopp will be responsible for maintaining and developing Asda’s existing portfolio and will lead the growth of its existing stores in the UK.
Asda director of retail development Rob Swyer said: “Janet joins us at a fantastic time in the retail development sector. We have a great opportunity over the next few years to expand our existing estate and improve our offer to communities across the country. Janet's reputation and her wealth of experience shows she has the skills to enhance our store base and lead the team on a range of other issues including business rates and rent reviews.”
