Argos will release an iPhone Application to take advantage of more consumers using Apple mobile devices to access its website.

There has been a traffic increase of over 600% from mobile Apple devices to Argos.co.uk in the last year.

Argos David Tarbuck head of multi-channel development, comments: “In December 2009, visits to Argos.co.uk from Apple mobile devices topped 750,000 - so we know the demand is there from Apple users for us to provide this customer demographic with a mobile solution for shopping with Argos.” Multichannel sales at Argos are heading towards 50% of all company sales.

The application provides a ‘click and collect’ service with 17,000 products available for in-store reservation. This capitalises on the growing number of customers using this service through Argos.co.uk, which now accounts for 22% of company sales.

It also offers a price and stock checker updated in real-time. Live product availability means customers spend less time searching for what’s available in stores nearby.

The application will be compatible with the iPad when it is released later this month.
