Aquascutum will return to the heart of London retail after securing a store on Great Marlborough Street opposite Liberty department store.

Property agent Jones Lang LaSalle has secured the lease for the premium fashion retailer at 24 Great Malborough Street, which is currently occupied by jewellery retailer Swarovski.

The new 4,500 sq ft store will open in the autumn. Aquascutum will trade across both ground and first floor, selling menswear, selected pieces of womenswear and kidswear.

It is thought Aquascutum is still on the hunt for a flagship in the capital. Retail Week revealed last year that the retailer was searching for a flagship store in London, plus two smaller stores in the capital, after it exited its Regent Street store in 2011.

The Great Marlborough street store will take Aquascutum’s store count to four. It already operates shops in Westfield London, Windsor and Canary Wharf.

Aquascutum chief operating officer Mark Taylor said: “We are delighted to be opening the Great Marlborough Street store. Returning to the West End provides the brand with a prime trading location, and reinforces our fundamental objective, to maximise our presence within luxury retailing.

“The addition of the store to our portfolio highlights the exciting period of growth that we are embarking on. We continue to search for more prime retail space in Greater London to add to our existing portfolio.”

Jones Lang LaSalle’s Central London Retail director Duncan Gilliard said: “Aquascutum is an iconic British brand and it is fantastic that they will once more have a presence in the West End. Demand for Regent Street and the surrounding streets remains at record levels both from international and British brands. ”
