Internet sales helped boost business last year
Internet sales are boosting profits at Ann Summers, according to figures for the year to June last year. The online business increased by 30 per cent to£6.6 million.

The original Ann Summers party business still performed well, up 11 per cent to£49 million. Overall group profits were up 27 per cent to£2.8 million.

Ann Summers chief executive Jacqueline Gold said: 'I am delighted with the continued growth of Ann Summers. Our strategy of investment in the future growth of Ann Summers is once again reaping rewards. Despite many retailers trying to jump on the bandwagon, Ann Summers is still the number one store for sexy lingerie and sex toys.'

The adult retailer has 134 stores in the UK and Ireland and one in Valencia in Spain. Ann Summers also employs a sales force of over 8,500 female party organisers across the country.
