Co-op’s first-half profits may have slipped, but the retailer is optimistic about its future. Chief executive Kate Allum and chief financial officer Rachel Izzard discuss growth prospects, company culture and the Southern Co-op deal.

“We’re on a journey at the moment,” says interim chief executive Kate Allum. “Market conditions have been tough across the piece, particularly in food retail. But we have made very intentional decisions to invest in driving trade.”
