Xbox players expected to be desperate to get their hands on one of the games of the year
Video games retailer Game will open 120 stores at midnight tonight for the launch of Halo 2 on Microsoft's Xbox. The move follows a similar response, by the retailer, to the launch of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas last week.

The demand for the Halo 2 is expected to be huge, following more than 7,000 retailers in the US opening at midnight to satisfy demand.

Game buying director Alex Croft said: 'The excitement around the launch of Halo 2 is amazing. Customers have been waiting years for this game, so we're working flat out to make sure they can start playing it as soon as possible. Launches like this show that blockbuster video games can be even more popular than films or music albums.'
