Chinese retailers are targeting London to open stores this year, as the capital remains a top shopping destination despite the difficult economic outlook.

A report by property agent Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) explained that as companies like Chinese fashion chain Bosideng open stores in London other companies plan to launch branches in Regent Street and Bond Street as a springboard into the rest of Europe.

The report studied information from 250 companies.

It found London was the most attractive retail location in Europe, beating Paris and Moscow, said the Evening Standard.

JLL head of retail Guy Grainger said: “We expect further international retailers’ expansion into London, in particular from US and Chinese brands.”

Grainger warned that high streets will continue to suffer from store closures this year as leases expire.
