MK One founder Mark Brafman has been sentenced to eight months in prison for acting as a company director while disqualified.

His former business partner Bulbinder Singh Sandhu was also sentenced at Southwark Crown Court. He must serve five months, according to Drapers.

Both have been disqualified from being company directors for 12 years after contravening the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.

It is the third time Brafman has been disqualified from being a director. He was disqualified in 2001 until 2008 and again in 2010 until 2025, according to records at Companies House.

Brafman co-founded the value chain MK One in 1985. After collapsing into administration it passed through a series of owners including Sir Philip Green, Baugur and Hilco before Brafman bought it back in 2008 via a new company, Jet Star Retail.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills brought the case against the two.
