B&Q will launch its first eco shop-in-shops at two of its biggest stores tomorrow (Friday).
The areas within the stores, in New Malden and Sutton, will allow customers to buy all of B&Q’s environmentally friendly products in one place.
The eco-shops will offer items to help people reduce their environmental impact and help them save money on energy, water and food, according to B&Q. There will also be installed services on offer, such as solar thermal water heating installations.
In a further 63 stores the DIY giant will pull together all the key energy saving goods into one area at the front to enable easy access to the products.
The retailer is also training Eco Advisors to offer in store guidance. They will be trained to City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Retail Skills level and will be available at the New Malden and Surrey stores from tomorrow before being rolled out more widely.
B&Q will also be offering home eco audits from May to help homeowners reduce their environmental impact, and will be conducting a Government backed pilot, Home Energy Pay As You Go, in Sutton. Households in the area can invest in energy efficiency technologies without any upfront cost, with customers able to spread their payments over a long period. B&Q will provide the eco audits as part of the service.
