A roll-out of Wi-Fi on the London Underground could provide a fillip for online retailers, Ocado chief executive Tim Steiner believes.
Transport for London is rolling out Wi-Fi, run by Virgin Media, across its network and 72 stations already carry the service. Wi-Fi is free during the Olympics but users will have to pay a fee after the Games have finished.
Ocado does just under half of its business within the M25. Steiner told Retail Week: “Travelling is often dead time so it’s a good time for people to shop.”
