Department store chain John Lewis has introduced Xerox DocuColor printers to all of its stores allowing it to produce promotional materials more easily on site.
The new devices, which are used primarily for printing point of sale marketing materials such as shelf presentations and posters, can handle high quality, short print runs economically and often on unusual media sizes. The technology also provides greater image quality, useful in translating skin tones into print, and the ability to handle larger file sizes.
John Lewis senior analyst operational systems Stephen Masters said the retailer was impressed with the print quality and decided on deploying the printers as a more cost effective solution than others it looked at. He added: “To remain competitive within the marketplace and keep our customers fully informed (whether that be in terms of prices, events or new services) we need to be able to produce effective and professional marketing and promotional materials, often at short notice.”
