Iceland adopts AI to set markdowns on short-dated food
Iceland is bringing in AI software to help decide how deep to cut prices on food nearing the end of its shelf life, aiming to reduce waste without sacrificing margin.
The frozen food specialist has signed up Retail Insight to use its WasteInsight tool, which analyses store data to flag products at risk of going to waste and recommends what it calls the “optimal markdown” to clear them.
