Fright-hungry shoppers are set to spend £310m on Halloween this year, up 5% from £295m in 2015, according to figures from Mintel.

With as many as half of UK millenials shelling out on the scare extravaganza in 2015, retailers from across various sectors are upping their game to cash in on Halloween spend this year.

Asda has spared no expense in preparing for Halloween this year, launching and TV advertising campaign centring around the event entitled ‘Do Halloween Your Way’.

The grocer has also also put advertisements across its social media platforms, including Twitter and Instagram promoting specific products, including a haunted doorbell for £10.

Sainsbury’s has created a line of Halloween items to sell across its Tu kids clothing range, which it has promoted on its Youtube channel.

The grocer has also launched a dedicated Halloween section on its lifestyle website Homemade, with a pumpking carving guide and spooky food styling tips.

Morrisons are pushing their baking credentials for Halloween this year with a variety of ghoulish confectionary items.

The grocer is also hosting pumpkin carving tutorials across many of its stores this week, as well as creating a how-to tutorial.

Tesco is incentivising Clubcard owners to exchange their vouchers for passes to Halloween-themed days out and events at Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and The London Dungeon.
