Ger Wright has joined New Balance as vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa

Wright, who joined Frasers in 2022, stepped down from her post at the end of November.

She was responsible for helping to shape and execute the group’s elevation strategy for its Sports Direct brand.

Prior to that, Wright spent more than a decade at Nike. She held numerous roles in the sportswear giant including vice president general manager of merchandising and marketplace EMEA and senior strategic account director for Nike’s biggest retail partner Footlocker.

Posting on LinkedIn, Wright said: “It’s a new year, and I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve just started a new chapter in my career as vice president sales EMEA at New Balance.

“Having worked with New Balance in recent years, and run the London Marathon with them last year, I truly fell in love with the brand’s culture, product and team.

“I’m energised to be back in a brand leadership role, working alongside the team to capitalise on the momentum New Balance is creating and to take our EMEA business to new heights, realising New Balance’s amazing ambitions.

“My career journey in the sports industry, both on the brand and retail side of the business has been an incredible ride so far. I’ve had the privilege of working with and for some of the best in this industry.  I’m so thankful to the mentors, colleagues and leaders who have each helped me get here.”
