Primark is reported to be considering signing a 70,000sq ft store at Westfield Stratford, the East London shopping centre scheduled to open in September 2011.

According to The Independent newspaper, lettings at the centre are beginning to gain traction, with retailers such as Adidas, H&M, Next and Topshop all expressing an interest. In addition, US fast fashion chain Forever 21 is looking to open in the centre.

John Lewis, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer have already signed up as anchor tenants.

Primark is eyeing a huge store in the £1.5bn flagship shopping centre of the 2012 London Olympics, as the line-up for the Australian developer Westfield’s scheme in east London takes shape.

Separately, Primark is said to be planning to host a public consulation about its proposed opening on Princes Street in Edinburgh. The opening of the store has been put back while Primark reapplies for planning permission, according to The Scotsman newspaper. The store will be at least 70,000sq ft and will be Primark’s first shop in Edinburgh.
