Marks & Spencer has suffered another personnel blow as its director of new channels Susan Aubrey-Cound prepares to step down from the retailer next week after 11 years with the business.

It is the second exit from the retailer in as many weeks, after Marks & Spencer’s brand director for general merchandise, Alison Jones, quit after less than a year in post, as revealed by yesterday (Monday).

Aubrey-Cound is credited with launching the ‘Look Behind the Label’ campaign, one of the first ethical marketing campaigns of its kind.

During her time at M&S Aubrey-Cound has been instrumental in driving the retailer’s Plan A sustainability programme. She has held the role of multichannel director and executive assistant to former boss Sir Stuart Rose.

Prior to M&S she worked at Moss Bros as marketing director.

Marks and Spencer is seeking to replace Aubrey-Cound.

A Marks & Spencer spokeswoman said: “Susan is stepping down from her role as new channels director in the multichannel team in order to pursue broader management opportunities in multichannel marketing.

“Susan leaves with our thanks for her extensive contribution to the M&S business over the last 11 years and our best wishes for the future.”
