Made.com has appointed Nicola Thompson as chief operating officer – a brand new role for the homeware retailer.

Thompson will be responsible for the merchandising, logistics and supply chain, customer service and customer experience functions. The new appointment is part of Made’s strategy to “grow and strengthen the business worldwide and develop product offering”.

Made.com chief executive Philippe Chainieux said: “Nicola’s wealth of experience and insight in leading business development across global markets will be instrumental in helping us to continue to expand our footprint in new and existing markets.

Thompson was formerly global customer development director at Asos, a position she held for five years. During her time at Asos, she was responsible for driving the development and execution of its commercial strategy across the business globally.

Chainieux added: “We have some exciting developments coming across the business, which she will be at the forefront of. I look forward to working with her and am excited to welcome her to the Made family.”

Thompson said “I’m very much looking forward to working for an industry leader like Made that’s setting trends instead of following them. At a time when global retail trends are changing so rapidly, I believe Made is leading from the front with its uncompromising design-led model, delivering fresh and interesting furniture to consumers at an affordable price.”
