The Garden Centre Group has appointed Kevin Bradshaw, the managing director of car rental company Avis UK, as its new chief executive.

Bradshaw, who joins the group on November 19, replaces Nicholas Marshall who exited the business last month. The company has not given a reason for Marshall’s departure.

While at Avis, Bradshaw has been responsible for the UK operations, overseeing 1,500 employees across 210 sites. He has previously also worked as a managing director within Reuters.

Alongside his appointment, the company has recruited a new chief financial officer, Nils Steinmeyer former finance director for Terra Firma, the private equity firm that owns The Garden Centre Group after acquiring it in April this year in a £276m deal.

Steinmeyer joined Terra Firma in 2003 and has worked across a variety of finance roles. He has worked closely with The Garden Centre Group and other Terra Firma businesses, including Deutsche Annington, AWAS and Phoenix Natural Gas.

The Garden Centre Group chairman Stephen Murphy said: “Kevin’s strong strategic skills and experience of leading large teams makes him ideally positioned to support the group’s future growth. And Nils’ experience with Terra Firma will be invaluable as the company continues to grow under their ownership.”
