DIY giant B&Q has appointed Amanda Walker to the new role of director of brand communications, responsible for advertising and digital.

Walker has a “breadth of experience” according to B&Q, with a career spanning FMCG and Financial Services brands. She was most recently marketing director for Churchill Insurance at Direct Line Group.

The hiring comes after B&Q appointed Chris Moss as its new customer and marketing director in October.

Moss said: “I am delighted to welcome Amanda to the team. We’re looking forward to what 2014 has to offer.”

B&Q has also hired marketing agency WCRS as its above-the-line Creative agency, taking over from the incumbent Karmarama.
