Oka, the furniutre chain part owned by Lady Astor, David Cameron’s mother-in-law, reported a 24% rise in underlying profits to £427,000 in its last financial year.

Sales were up 9% in the year to £15m.

In the current year, sales are up 32% in the first five months, buoyed by sales of garden furniture and room fragrances. The figures also include takings from a new flagship store in Chelsea, opened last September.

Oka will also open a concession in Selfridges on Oxford Street soon.

Oka chairman Graham Frost told the Sunday Times: “Our customer base is still spending and being very loyal.”
