The online supermarket retailer experienced a 10.7% increase in sales for the 12 weeks to mid-August

Once fully operational, the Nottingham spoke will provide over 400 new jobs to the local community, as the world’s largest dedicated online supermarket aims to increase its reach to over 80% of the UK population.

Ocado has been named as the fastest-growing retailer over the past 12 months by Worldpanel by Numerator, as the online supermarket retailer also experienced a 10.7% increase in sales for the 12 weeks leading up to mid-August.

Ocado Retail chief financial officer Mat Ankers said: “By expanding our infrastructure, we are not only driving greater efficiency and meeting customer demand but also enhancing the customer service experience.”

“The new facility will allow us to deliver more customer orders and be located closer to customer homes to deliver more efficiently.”

“We are continually on the lookout for similar urban and ultra-urban distribution properties across the UK to work with and support our existing portfolio, which will enable further operational efficiencies and growth in line with business aspirations.”

Ocado Retail is a joint venture between Ocado and Marks & Spencer, who acquired a 50% stake in the business for £750m in 2019.
