Consumer confidence climbs, but caution creeps in

Consumer confidence improved for the third consecutive month in September but there were signs of potential cooling.

GfK consumer insights director Neil Bellamy said: “September continued the gradual recovery seen since April, with consumer confidence rising one point. This marks the first time since summer 2024 that we have seen three consecutive monthly increases in the overall Index score.
