Moss Bros non-executive directors Mark Bernstein and Tony Bogod are to step down from the menswear group’s board next month with former interim chief financial officer Bryan Portman taking up the same role in July.

Bernstein and Bogod will leave the board at the company’s annual general meeting on May 19. Bernstein joined the board in 2001 and has seen Moss Bros through a number of restructures. Bogod joined in 2007 and has chaired the Audit Committee since January 2009.

Portman will re-join Moss Bros as non-executive director with effect from July 1, he will become chairman of the Audit Committee. He was previously with the company for three months in 2010 when he was interim chief financial officer.

Portman’s most recent executive role was as chief financial officer at Co-Operative Group and prior to this was chief executive at Britannic Group.

Chairman Debbie Hewitt said: “[Portman] has considerable experience of working with businesses and finance functions of multi-brand, multi-site operations, in turn around situations. We believe his experience will allow him to make an immediate contribution to the company and to the pace of progress.”
