Tata Group’s retail arm Trent has put on hold plans to open Arcadia Group outlets in the country to instead focus on Inditex-owned brand Zara.

The company had entered into a franchisee agreement with Arcadia Group three years ago and was planning to open at least 15 stores for Arcadia’s Topman and Topshop brands. Trent is also expected to end its franchisee arrangement with Benetton Group’s Sisley brand as the rate of store expansion did not meet initial expectations.

A senior executive from Tata Group said: “We want to make each format profitable.”
