Grocery retailer Carrefour could sell its 50% stake in franchisee Altis to fund part of the takeover of its main franchisee Guyenne & Gascogne.

Altis is a joint venture between Carrefour and Spanish grocer Eroski. The latter would reportedly buy Carrefour’s stake and sell it to a French retailer that has already expressed its interest. Carrefour declined to comment.

Altis currently operates six Carrefour hypermarkets, 15 Carrefour Market supermarkets and five Ed discount stores.
