Carrefour is to open its new pilot convenience store format Carrefour Express today in Caen. The concept - which will be opened in towns and rural areas - has a sales area of between 1,075 sq ft and 2,690 sq ft and will offer about 3,500 SKUs. Carrefour Express has extended opening hours, from 8am to 9pm (10pm in Paris), each day of the week and it also opens on Sunday morning.
A second Carrefour Express will open in Poitiers in January and a third in Paris in February. The concept is already present in Belgium and Spain.
